Today we are going to explain a few of the checklists, which come in handy while buying a new laptop. Let's dive deep into the checklists :

1) Processor (CPU) :

For any laptop or computing device Processor (CPU) is like the heart and soul of that product. Always go for new processors while you trying to buy a new laptop. Intel processors like Core i3, Core i5, Core 7 offer optimal performance when it comes to multi-tasking, multimedia, and gaming. Newer generation processors are always more energy-efficient and also their processing speeds are really fast.

When it comes to laptop processor, choose wisely as per your working needs.

2) Display Quality or Screen Technology :

Today we can see many types of display quality or screen technology. The market is flooded with too many displays quality making users confused about which one to buy. Normally on laptops, we can see two types of display technologies - LCD and LED.

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display): It uses CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) to illuminate the screen. It is a more common type of display technology used in laptops.

LED (Light Emitting Diode): It uses an array or series of LEDs as a back-light to illuminate the display.

LEDs are more energy-efficient, which helps your battery to last longer and longer battery life.

There are many types of screen qualities like HD(High Definition), FHD(Full High Definition), QHD(Quad High Definition(i.e 2k)), UHD(Ultra High Definition(i.e 4k)).

3) Size of the laptop :

When it comes to laptops or Notebook size matters a lot. Nobody likes to carry a bulk heavyweight laptop. Today generation likes portability, lightweight and slim laptop or notebooks which are easy to carry and requires less space to fit in their backpacks.

Thinner laptops are more stylish and energy-efficient. However, there is a catch. Thinner devices are more complex is its circuit-level designs, which makes them costlier compared to other laptops.

4) Graphics Card :

Normal users are not much aware of the graphic card part of a laptop. However, when they like a high-end game that has a lot of graphics and they try to run that game on their laptop or notebook. They will get an error message or notification as not enough graphic capability. They regret the purchase of their laptops.

So it's always wiser choice to check whether the laptop you are going to buy has a dedicated graphics card slot like NVIDIA or it's just an inbuilt graphics card in the Intel chipset level.

5) Keyboard build quality :

Another major thing to verify before buying any laptop is the build quality of the keyboard. If you choose a poor build quality keyboard, chances are very high that upon using for a couple of months your keyboard will wear out. A keyboard should be durable in the long run since we type for longer sessions. Keyboard layout matters a lot, neatly packed keyboard letters help with awesome user experience.

Normally there are two kinds of keyboards :

a) Keyboard with backlight: This kind of keyboard is very useful to work in the dim light environment.

b) Keyboard without backlight: This is a normal keyboard without any backlight. One drawback of such keyboards in that you can't use in dark surrounding.

6) RAM Capacity :

In today's memory-hungry applications, the size of RAM matters a lot on a laptop. Always go with the laptop which has at least 4GB of RAM capacity. More the RAM capacity you can run multiple applications simultaneously without any hang or freezing of applications.

If you are an application developer or a gamer, always go with a RAM capacity of 8 GB or more. For seamless switching between multiple applications.

7) Hard disk or storage :

Traditional almost all laptops run on hard drives, which are inexpensive and gives a lot of storage facilities. Few drawbacks are lesser data retrieval speed, heating problem, bulk in size.

With the advancement of technology, now we have a more efficient storage facility which is SSD (Solid State Drive). SSD is a kind of storage facility that offers speedy data retrieval, runs silents without any noise like hard drives, quick boot time for operating systems.

SSD is more expensive compared to hard drives, however, the performance is awesome.

8) Battery backup

Like all tech devices, electronic gadgets are energy-hungry. If you are always on the go or traveling then battery backup is very crucial to complete your assignments or work-related stuff. So always try to research the battery backup capability of a new laptop that you are going to buy. Longer the battery backup, more productive work you can do.

9) Built-in WebCam

Nowadays almost all laptop comes with in-built webcam facility. It is always good to have on your checklist. In today's society, we are more interconnected than our previous generations, we might need to have video conferencing with our clients or business meeting. So an in-built webcam helps a lot rather than again buying a separate webcam.

10) USB 3.0 compatibility

USB 3.0 is a new generation USB technology, which helps in faster data transfer between storage devices like hard drives, SSD's. A faster data transfer saves a lot of time in backing up a huge amount of data from one device to another.

If you go for an older version of USB technology, it takes hours just to transfer few GB's of data.

11) Laptop physical build quality

No devices are safe from the accidental damages like dropping laptop accidentally, dust, withstand rain, liquid spills. So it's always better to go with a durable laptop rather than delicate physical build, which are more pronto damages.
